On Sunday July 20, 2024 at 10am at the Erieville Fire Department,
Dr. Greg Boyer will share his knowledge about HABs.
Dr. Boyer, a SUNY ESF professor and scholar,
is a nationally respected researcher focusing on harmful algae blooms.
He will have specific feedback on Tuscarora and Eatonbrook
based on samples from last fall and this spring/summer.
The Town of Nelson Watershed Management Committee organizes these annual July informational forums in collaboration with TLA and the Eatonbrook Lake Association.
We know every waterfront owner should do their part to combat harmful algae blooms:
We’ll keep healthy septics, maintain our lakefront to slow sedimentation and refrained from using phosphorus fertilizers.

In 2024, all operators of motorized vessels born on or after January 1, 1978 need to CARRY a safe boating certificate while operating. Starting January 1, 2025, a safety certificate will be required of all operators, regardless of age.

The lake was created in 1850 as a feeder for the Erie Canal and is still used as a feeder for the canal. See also the History Section of this website.

The Lake's deepest spot is 42 feet just east of the dam.
Zebra Mussels, Blue Green Algae and HABs, Invasive Species, Lake Level, Other???
There is No Public Launch on the Lake. There are spots where people can carry on small boats (kayaks, Canoes, Paddleboards etc.
